Introduction

The new national curriculum will be assessed for the first time in May 2016. There will be new tests for key stage 1, as well as key stage 2.

As part of our commitment to engage with parents and carers in supporting pupils’ progress, we have produced this webpage in order to inform families of children in Year 1, Year 2 and Year 6 what the current statutory assessment procedures are for children in these year groups.

For more information, please speak to Mrs Sear or your child's class teacher.

Year 1 Phonics Screening Check 2016 (Year 1 pupils)

We are required to administer a phonics screening check to children in Year 1. This is a statutory assessment and will take place during the week beginning Monday 13th June 2016.

Key Stage 1 Assessment 2015-2016 (Year 2 pupils)

The tests will cover English reading, English grammar, punctuation and spelling, and mathematics at the end of key stages 1. This will be the first time that Year 2 will be tested on grammar and punctuation. Key Stage 1 SATs take place in May.

Information on the new tests are found on the web link below:

The 2016 end of Key Stage 2 national curriculum tests will be held in the week beginning Monday 9th May 2016.

Revision Books

In order to support learning, ‘CGP’ revision books were made available to buy in school. If you require any further copies, please contact Mr McNair.

There are many commercially produced revision books to buy, but we feel the books published by ‘CGP’ are the best currently available in terms of supporting pupils with their independent revision and being economically affordable.

Thank you for your continued support.
